NEW YORK CITY, New York: The three Alexander brothers, two of whom ran the most successful real estate brokerage firm in the country, were found guilty on March 9 of sex trafficking following accusations by numerous women of drugging and sexually assaulting them.
The verdict came after 11 women told a federal court in Manhattan that they were sexually assaulted by one or more of the brothers: twin brothers Oren and Alon Alexander, 38, and their older brother Tal Alexander, 39. As the jury foreperson said "guilty" 19 times in a row, all three brothers shook their heads. The decision could mean they spend the rest of their lives in prison.
Tal Alexander lowered his head onto his crossed arms. Their shocked parents were sitting behind them in the courtroom. Alon Alexander's wife covered her face with her hand and seemed to be holding back tears.
Judge Valerie E. Caproni scheduled sentencing for August 6. The brothers, who have been in jail since their 2024 arrest, plan to appeal the verdict, their lawyers said.
"We believe our clients are innocent and we will keep fighting until we win," defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo said outside the courthouse.
U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton said the verdict was an important victory for victims of crimes that are often not reported or punished.
The decision marked a dramatic fall for Oren and Tal Alexander, who were once famous in the real estate world and known as the industry's "A Team" for their high-profile sales and celebrity clients. After breaking sales records at Douglas Elliman, the brothers started their own company. Alon Alexander managed the family's private security business.
Victims said they met the brothers at nightclubs, parties, and on dating apps. They said the attacks happened after the brothers invited them on fully paid trips to places like the Hamptons, Aspen in Colorado, and on a Caribbean cruise. Prosecutors say more than 60 women have accused one or more of the brothers of rape.
Defense lawyers argued that the women may have misremembered events or were hoping to profit from lawsuits. They admitted the brothers had many relationships with women, but said any sexual activity was consensual.
Besides the main charges, Alon and Tal Alexander were also found guilty of sex trafficking a minor. Alon and Oren Alexander were convicted of serious sexual abuse by force or by using drugs or alcohol, and of abusing a person who was physically unable to resist. Oren Alexander was also convicted of sexually exploiting a minor after prosecutors showed the jury a video of him appearing to assault a drugged 17-year-old girl.
Apart from the criminal case, the brothers have faced about two dozen lawsuits over the past two years. One of them was filed last week by Tracy Tutor, a star of the TV show "Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles." She claims Oren Alexander drugged and assaulted her in New York City during a real estate event.
During the trial, many women said they believed the brothers had put drugs in their drinks. Some said they felt they had lost control of their bodies.
One woman said she met the brothers at a party in 2012 at actor Zac Efron's Manhattan apartment. She said she barely interacted with the actor, who was not accused of wrongdoing. Later that night, she went to a nightclub and then woke up naked with Alon Alexander standing over her.
Testimony Challenges Claim Money Drove Allegations
Prosecutors rejected the defense claim that the women were accusing the brothers to get money. Prosecutor Elizabeth Espinosa told the jury that only two of the women have filed lawsuits, and both are already wealthy.
One woman said Alon Alexander raped her in Aspen in 2017 when she was 17. She told the court she is the daughter of a billionaire.
Another witness, Lindsey Acree, an artist and gallery owner, said Tal Alexander and another man raped her in a Hamptons home in 2011 after she drank something that made her feel unable to move.
